The finishing touches are being administered to booths at the 2007 Zimbabwe International Travel Expo, being held at the Harare International Conference Centre in Zimbabwe’s capital. The event runs for four days and will see 118 exhibitors showing off their gear to over 450 buyers looking for the next big thing in the travel industry.
Today will mark the opening of the expo, with Givemore Chidzidzi, director of marketing and communications for the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority reporting that, “Currently, our buyers who came early for the pre-expo tours are spread across the country. Some are in Victoria Falls, Gonarezhou, Kariba and the Eastern Highlands sampling what the country has to offer in tourism.”
Zimbabwe’s work to draw more tourism has been working steadily since 2002, and the travel expo should help in the cause as well. Countries with buyers already in town include Korea, France, Great Britain, Japan, China and Germany.
