Yanks get a little help from their Euro friends
Posted on: May 6th, 2008 by Jennifer JonesWith the American dollar trading at an all-time low against European currencies and American tourists thinking twice about that typical summer jaunt through Europe, some European business and organizations are doing what they can to alleviate some of the bite that Americans will be feeling on their European trips this summer.
Even perpetually popular places for Americans like Paris, France are noticing a lack of their trans-Atlantic moneybags. Thomas Deschamps, of the Paris Convention and Visitors Office says, “We have less and less Americans in Paris,” while across the channel in England, a promotion that allows Americans to buy their British discount cards in dollars is underway- and for the yanks that like a drink in Venice, the famous Harry’s Bar is giving a 20 percent discount on drinks and food to the victims of a slow economy across the sea.
