X Factor Contestants Trash London Premier Inn
Posted on: July 26th, 2010 by Andrew BonesRiot Police had to be called to the Premier Inn located in Wembley due to the contestants in the final stages of The X Factor, the reality competition show. The over 20 hopefuls that made it to the boot camp part of the contest terrified guests as the stripped in public and trashed the hotel property. Staff on duty were helpless against them, so they decided to call in authorities. Several of the contestants were evicted from the hotel. X Factor bosses have agreed to pay the damages, which includes smashed photos, signs and a door.
The raucous started on Thursday night after the hopefuls took to drinking cider, whiskey, vodka and rosé wine. A hotel source says that the police arrived with riot gear on, as things had escalated to the extreme. It’s hard to believe these contestants are serious about becoming the next Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis, the insider added.
This is a record-breaking event – the first time police have been called in for the show. Due to the incident, the hotel was patrolled on Friday, and the singers were sent home for a month on Saturday before they visit the homes of the judges for the next stage. Before leaving, however, the producers are said to have read them the riot act and are still deciding on if the worst troublemakers should get to continue competing or not.
A spokesman for X Factor said that the auditioners had the opportunity to take a break after going through intense rehearsals and performances during the week. The individuals involved have apologized, he added. Another source also says that Simon Cowell, the lead judge, wasn’t happy about what happened in the least.
