WTA goes to OZ

The World Travel Awards ceremonies are doing some travelling of their won this year, with ceremonies being held in each of the designated world travel zones where awards will be awarded to regional leaders in the travel and tourism industry. Even the Wall Street Journal has labeled the WTAs as the Oscars of the Travel industry, and today the schedule for the gala’s next stop, Australia, has been revealed. The awards for the Australiasia region will be held in Sydney in this, the WTA’s 15th year.

429 travel and tourism companies have been nominated for the competition, which will give out its honours on June 10th at Sydney’s Observatory Hotel. When asked how he felt about the travel awards coming to Australia, Orient-Express Hotels’ regional marketing director Patrick Griffin said, “It will be an honour for the Observatory Hotel Sydney to host the Australasian regional awards ceremony in June. Like the World Travel Awards, we are also commemorating our 15th year anniversary and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate!”
