World Travel Awards announced
Posted on: October 11th, 2007 by Neill ZerkThe Newcastle Marriott Hotel Gosforth Park in Newcastle, England played host to the World Travel Awards European leg with the Europe & Green Awards. Over 300 people from 19 European countries gathered to witness over 50 trophies be handed out.
President and founder of the World Travel Awards Graham Cooke says, “North East England and especially Newcastle is an up and coming destination thanks to the region’s regeneration in the last few years. Newcastle is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and coastal stretches in the UK, which is one of the reasons why so many people make the city a destination for their holiday,
Newcastle played an ideal host for our regional event, and we are now building to the crescendo of our annual World Travel Awards Ceremony in Turks & Caicos at the end of the year.”
The award for Europe’s leading business class airline went to Lufthansa, Europcar picked up the award for Europe’s Leading Car Hirewhile Europe’s leading airline was found to be Swiss International Airlines. Awards for the hospitality sector went to Marriott Hotels for Europe’s leading hotel brand and the leading hotel in Europe is Hotel Le Bristol Paris.
