Wizz Air will no longer be flying out of Bournemouth Airport

The budget airline known as Wizz has decided to no longer fly into Bournemouth Airport because of lack of demand.  Its final flight was supposed to leave from the airport over the weekend but it was cancelled at the last minute.  The reason given for the cancellation was heavy fog the morning of the flight.

A spokesperson for the Bournemouth Airport stated that “The inbound plane from Poland couldn’t get in because of bad weather. It went to Luton but it couldn’t get on down to Bournemouth in time for the outbound service.”

The only provision made for the passengers affected by the flight was a refund.  No additional flights will be heading to the flights destination of Katowice, Poland by Wizz Air.

Commenting on the decision made by Wizz Air, a spokesperson for the company said “As the trends are changing the demand for city breaks is on the increase, while the trends towards working in the UK are in decline.  We decided to stop the Bournemouth-Katowice route and move the capacity to routes that are more in demand.”

It was also noted that “Their growth has been spectacular, but that’s starting to peter out a bit.  A lot of the Polish population have said actually, Poland isn’t too bad’ and are going back.  That’s what I attribute it to. Also, these are pretty dire financial times in Europe and maybe people are cutting back on visits now.”
