Welsh flyers to be served Welsh food
Posted on: November 15th, 2007 by Jennifer JonesPassengers flying between north and south Wales with Highland Airways will soon be able to enjoy locally sourced food.
Development agency Menter Mon will be producing the food which is supplied to Highland Airways for their Cardiff to Anglesey service. The flight will offer passengers locally-baked shortbread biscuits, crisps flavoured with Anglesey sea salt, flapjacks from Hootons in Brynsiencyn, and cakes from Pantri Bach at Moelfre.
Highland Airways offers the flight to Anglesey twice a week on a Jetstream plane with 19 seats.
Non Roberts, Menter Mon’s business and language officer, was quoted by the Welsh Daily Post as saying: “It’s very important to raise the profile of our local producers, and it’s equally important for our air travellers to be aware of what Ynys Mon (Anglesey) has to offer. A lot of businesses on Anglesey aim to operate bilingually as the language is a part of our imagery, our unique selling point on Ynys Mon.”
The flight itself is designed to help boost the economy on the island. In addition, Highland also offers flights from Stornoway, Sumburgh, Benbecula and Inverness.
