As the United States economy is dealing with a low value for their dollar, many foreign countries are taking advantage of the situation by taking a trip overseas to visit. Even against the rising fuel costs and higher cost of living being felt across the world, certain United States locations for example Alaska are seeing increases in their tourism industry.

While many have put off plans to travel or always found an excuse not to do it, the weak dollar has made travel to the US a bargain for many foreigners whose currency has remained valued well above the dollar. A representative from the Alaska Travel Industry Association, Dave Worrell joked about the situation when he said “Alaska is on sale.” Another Alaskan companies which works closely with tourists from Germany named Go North Alaska Travel Center announced that their company had been up thirty percent from last year which had been a record year for the company itself. The owner of the Go North Alasak Travel Center Ralph Meyer commented that the outlook is bright for tourism with his auto rentals have already been booked solid for the entire summer already. Meyers suggested that the increase in his business was tied directly to the weak dollar when compared to the Swiss Franc or the Euro.

As the United States economy is not expected to rebound any time soon the tourism industry may see some gains if the fuel prices can balance off and the other global economies can remain stable as they are.
