Voyages of Discovery offering 50 per cent discounts

The cruise line Voyages of Discovery is extending its early booking discounts on summer 2009 cruises departing Harwich, offering reductions of as much as 50 per cent.

Included in the offer are existing bookings for the summer of 2009.

Prices on cruises now start from £599 per person on the line’s eight-day Norwegian Fjords voyage that departs from Harwich on 24 May, reduced from the brochure’s early booking price of £899.

Ten-day fly-cruise packages to Mediterranean destinations are now being offered from £1,099, down from the published price of £1,299.

David Yellow, the managing director of the cruise operator, said: “Extending these excellent savings to existing bookings is certainly not common practice amid tour operators in today’s marketplace. We hope it shows our ongoing commitment to our loyal customers who have already confirmed their holiday plans for next year.”

The company executive went on to say: “We are conscious that, given the current economic climate, many of our clients may be finding it more difficult to justify expenditure on a much needed break and it is on this basis that we have decided to restructure the pricing of our summer 2009 programme. These unprecedented fares are limited in availability and are unlikely to be repeated.”

From May through August of 2009, all Voyages of Discovery UK departures will sail from Harwich – to destinations ranging from Russia to Scandinavia, including the Northern Waters and the Baltic.
