VisitBritain Launches Cities Campaign

Posted on: January 26th, 2010 by Dave Humphries

VisitBritain will team up with easyJet and British Airways to begin a new campaign which will aim to attract more tourism to the UK’s larger cities. The campaign will be an extension of the national tourism agency’s ‘See More Britain for Less’ campaign launched back in 2009.

The Cities campaign looks to increase tourism in the UK’s ten major cities, which include Glasgow, London, Liverpool, Newcastle-Gateshead, Oxford, Bristol, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Manchester. The marketing director for VisitBritain, Laurence Bresh, announced that the new campaign will focus on overseas visitors spending the majority of their trip touring the UK’s most notable cities.

Currently, overseas visitors are enjoying a very favourable exchange rate when visiting the UK and the campaign will focus on this aspect targeting visitors who aim to see the most of the UK possible for as inexpensive as possible. New Year sales are still ongoing in London and other cities like Edinburgh and Manchester.

The campaign will highlight these cities interesting histories, attractions, and atmospheres to bring out their best sides at the greatest value. The campaign will be launched over 13 countries beginning today. VisitBritain microsites will have all the destination information for travellers looking to experience the UK during this favourable period in tourism.
