Visit Florida this summer and save on gas
Posted on: June 22nd, 2007 by Andrew MayerNot everyone is terribly disappointed about the high price of gasoline this summer. The state of Florida is capitalizing on this high cost of gas to entice visitors to visit the sunny state.
Visit Florida has several programs designed to help consumers understand the cost of their vacation and cut back on spending. The Fuel Calculator, Travel on a Tankful, and Florida on Foot should appeal to in-state residents looking for a vacation as well as out-of-state travelers. The tools are free on the Visit Florida website.
Using the Fuel Calculator, travelers can enter their destination and departure city, the type of car they plan to drive and the current price of gas to get an estimate of how much driving will cost them.
The Travel on a Tankful section of the website is full of planned itineraries and driving tours available from a number of cities in Florida on only one tank of gas. Departure cities include Miami, Tampa, Fort Myers, Orlando, Jacksonville, Pensacola and Tallahassee.
For more active vacations the Florida on Foot section provides destinations and itineraries where you won’t need to drive.
