Visa to be Official Sponsor of 2010 Olympics
Posted on: November 10th, 2009 by Paul FenrichVisa Inc announced the launch of its worldwide Olympic theme marketing campaign, titled Go World, which is designed for the 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver. For over twenty years, Visa Inc has continued to be an official sponsor for the Olympics. Television, out of home advertising, digital advertising, host market merchant activation programs and usage promotions are to be targeted under the campaign. Visa aims to connect fans and cardholders and also stimulate the preference and usage of Visa cards.
Visa recently attained an extension for sponsorship of the Olympic games for another eight years till 2010. This permits Visa to build strong customer relationships through exclusive marketing programs.
The concept for the Go World campaign was highly successful when initially launched in the United States during the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. The campaign aspires to transcend borders, resonate with fans’ national pride, enhancing the business capabilities of Visa and its clients and also promotes the spirit of the Olympic movement.
The campaign aims to celebrate through unique athletes’ stories, athleticism and human spirit.
Visa offers to cardholders a chance to glimpse into the journeys of the Olympic candidates in its digital space, using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. The launch of athlete widgets is also announced.
Also visa reportedly provides 30 individual athletes, who have the potential to be selected for their national team with financial support, financial literacy training and valuable marketing exposure in pursuit of their goals.
