Virgin starts flights to Washington
Posted on: September 27th, 2007 by Charlotte FellowsAlthough Virgin America has only just recently taken off on its first flight, the airline has already began expanding its services, with new flights recently beginning to Washington D.C. The first flight took off on Wednesday.
Domestic passengers in America will now be able to take advantage of low fares on two daily non-stop flights operated by Virgin America between San Fransisco International Airport and Washington. The airline also flies between New York City and San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The private airline company only began operating last month. British billionair Richard Branson, who is behind the Virgin brand, owns a share in the company but is restricted from full ownership by American laws requiring domestic airlines to be American.
The new flights are part of an expansion plan that the airline says will hit as many as 10 cities within the first year of operation. Virgin is known worldwide for its discounted flights.
