Virgin becomes Ryder Cup airline
Posted on: April 25th, 2008 by Dave BessWhen the European Ryder Cup team arrives in Louisville, Kentucky, USA this coming September, the golfers will fly in a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340. The Ryder Cup will take place at the Valhalla Golf Club from September 19th to the 21st, and the 12-man European team headed by Nick Faldo will land on the 15th and depart the 22nd.
Passengers on the plane will include golfer’s families, sponsors, suppliers and VIPs. This is not the first time Virgin Atlantic has sponsored the Ryder Cup team, they did so in 2004, when the tournament was held in the state of Michigan, at the Oakland Hills Country Club.
Virgin Atlantic’s president Sir Richard Branson said, “It is a great honour for us to be carrying Nick Faldo and his teammates to Louisville. This is the second time that Virgin Atlantic has been chosen to carry the team and the Ryder Cup, and we are thrilled that Europe’s top golfers have selected us again. I’m sure they can do Europe proud and win again.”
