Video of the clash between airport security officers and an irate passenger who tangled with them last week has been released in the wake of an inconclusive autopsy and the woman’s family hiring a private investigator to get to the bottom of the mysterious death of the woman who had ostensibly strangled herself while trying to escape from her handcuffs in a holding cell.

The family of Carol Anne Gotbaum has made it public that they suspect police of assaulting her during the arrest process, but have refused to comment further during their grieving process.

The surveillance video appears to exonerate officers who tried to arrest her, by showing her running through the terminal and clearly resisting arrest as they try to subdue her. The outburst was caused by Gotbaum not being on her flight after the gate had closed, when she evidently just lost it, despite being reassured she would be assigned a seat on the next available flight.

The woman’s husband, Noah Gotbaum evidently called dispatchers and explained that his wife was experiencing mental illness and had displayed suicidal behaviour in the time before her trip.

I can’t understand why the husband and family of the mentally ill woman, who tragically died, gave her permission to travel. This lady should have had professional medical guidance during her trip. I don’t think you can blame the security officers for her suicide. After all, the involved officers didn’t know anything about her mental state.
