Although you may not yet have heard of them, a Brazilian airline will soon be offering new flights between the UK and South America. Varig is planning to launch its first flights between London and Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro by the end of the month.

The airline promises to provide daily flights starting on October 28th. Already Varig flies between Brazil and destinations in Italy, Germany and France.

The new flights will depart from London Heathrow at 22:05 and arrive in Sao Paulo at 08:15 and in Rio de Janeiro at 10:00.

Flights will depart from Tom Jobim Airport in Rio at 20:30, stop in at Guarulhos Airport in Sao Paolo at 21:30 and arrive in London at 15:00.

The new flights were inspired by increasing ties between Brazil and the UK, particularly in trade between the two countries. Currently British Airways is the most significant airline in the market for such flights but Varig is hoping to give them a run for their money.
