Universal Studios Florida is all set to launch its new Harry Potter attraction in its hugely popular theme park. After many months of silence and infrequent glimpses into the proposed attraction, Universal has finally shown some signs of life, by building a new bridge into the exhibit.

Also, a giant advertising sign has been put up to acquaint visitors with the coming attraction. Titled The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it is being assembled at the Islands of Adventure section. Universal Orlando is being highly secretive about this venture and unconfirmed reports suggest it will open in spring 2010.

NBC Universal has now begun airing advertisements for the park. A grand opening ceremony for the large Harry Potter base will be organized. The advertising drive will begin in full swing after Christmas. Reportedly, Universal Orlando is planning to spend 200 million dollars on their new project. This is in a bid to boost flagging numbers as due to the effects of recession, visitors just stayed home rather than going out on expensive holidays.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be the biggest addition to the park since 1998, when Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom was opened. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will reportedly have rides, restaurants, shops all set around the Harry Potter theme. Since Universal Orlando is tight-lipped about the upcoming attraction, fans have no idea what to expect.

Television adverts have been placed in prime time slots usually during shows such as The Biggest Loser, The Tonight Show with Connen O’Brien and the Today Show, but have been less than revealing about what Harry Potter fans will actually encounter at the park.
