Leaders from the travel and tourism industry are set to meet tomorrow in London at Canary Wharf to discuss firstly, the expected 4.3 % growth expected within the industry, and secondly, whether or not the industry itself is ready to handle the increased traffic.
The increase in visitors is expected to raise £341.4 billion from now until 2017. The World Travel & Tourism Council is comprised of the top 100 chief executives of the top 100 companies in the industry worldwide. With players like that put together in one room, one would expect the answer to be fairly decisive and informed.
The WTTC is in close contact with governments and advises on issues like infrastructure and other government sectors that are potentially affected by the movements of the travel and tourism industries. People working for companies under the umbrella of the WTC number 230 million people and 10 % of the world’s Gross Domestic Product comes from them.
