UK holidaymakers enjoy sex on the beach

More than 25 per cent of UK holidaymakers say that they have had sex on the beach during their travels, according to a new Direct Holiday Bookings survey.

The statistic was released as a couple from Britain was sentenced to three months in a Dubai jail for having sex on a public beach while on holiday there.

The DirectHolidayBookings survey indicates that the amorous adventure in Dubai is not at all unusual. Of the 1,000 people responding to the questions posed on the online holiday homes booking website, 26 per cent said that they had sex by the sea while on holiday at some point in their lives.

In the under-30 respondent group, the number rose to 36 percent, but was lower with the over-40 group, which reported that 19 percent had sex on the beach.

Only five per cent admitted to having been caught in the act. Nearly 90 per cent, however, said that the Dubai incident would make them think again about repeating the act in the future.

The director of DirectHolidayBookings.com, Andrew Gibson, said: “The Dubai case has attracted worldwide media attention, but this survey goes to show that the practice is far from unusual. People tend to be far more relaxed whilst on holiday and perhaps do things that they would never consider at home.”
