The UK, in its quest to become a greener country, will soon commence trials on low carbon vehicles. With this initiative, drivers will be given a handful of low carbon vehicles and will be constantly monitored to check the viability of these vehicles and their ease of installation into a normal life. This campaign has beeninitiated by the Coventry and Birmingham Low Emission Vehicle Demonstrators (CABLED).

As a part of the trial, motoring genius Quentin Wilson was handed out one of the first cars. He was one of the experts that was inducted into the programme. A total of 25 Mitsubishi’s Electric Vehicles were given out to chosen experts. The project is aided by the UK government who are very keen to reduce emission norms.

The trial will assimilate data such as how often the vehicles were used, how they are handled and what addition infrastructure will be required if these cars are used on a wider scale. In place of gas- stations, charging points will have to be built. This trial hopes to determine the costs that the government will have to incur in making the UK a greener place.

The campaign will stretch out over the next few months and over 340 vehicles will be handed out to various people. Data will be collected over the working and maintenance of each of these vehicles and the comprehensive report that will be available will hopefully provide a clearer picture. Quentin Wilson is excited about the changes being incorporated and believes that this is the beginning of a huge new change.
