Airlines offering passengers the option of arriving guilt free by offsetting their personal carbon emissions produced through the flight have been around for a bit, and there are a few companies employed by airlines to get the job done. The latest pairing up of airline and environmental agency in charge of shuffling money around to projects that could offset the carbon emissions generated by plane travel are SWISS Airlines/Lufthansa Airlines and the Swiss not for profit organization, ‘myclimate’.

The SWISS CEO Christopher Franz puts it simply: “Acting responsibly towards the environment is an integral part of our corporate culture, and by offering our customers the option of contributing to specific climate protection projects, we’re adding a further dimension to our environmental endeavours.”

Since the company first took to the skies it has been making efforts to cut its carbon emissions, both through adjustments to the aircraft themselves and now with a partnership with an organization like myclimate.

Lufthansa, aside from offering its customers a chance to donate to myclimate, is involved with other companies of similar nature to give passengers the choice of which sector of renewable energy they’d like to put their cash.
