Twitter traveller arrives in New Zealand

A Briton who wanted to see how far he might be able to travel on the goodwill of Twitter users has reached New Zealand
Paul Smith, a 33-year-old Newcastle-based journalist is now attempting to make it to Campbell Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located off the New Zealand coast, by Monday.
Smith has undertaken the trip to raise money for Charity: Water, which helps make clean and safe drinking water available to people in developing countries.
He decided that the duration of his travels would be limited to 30 days, and would only accept travel and accommodation offers from those who use the social networking site Twitter.
Since leaving the UK on 1 March, Smith has travelled to Holland, France and Germany, and then on to the US. From there he flew for free from Los Angeles to Auckland. He is now hopeful that he will be able to reach Campbell Island, approximately 400 miles off the New Zealand coast, by his deadline.
Smith has been operating with a self-imposed limit of making travel plans for no more than three days in advance. He also spends no more than two days at each destination. In addition, if he is not able to move on to his next destination within 48 hours, Smith considers this as failing the challenge and brings it to an end.
