TUI Travel has announced that several changes to its board have been made.  This announcement follows on the heels of the resignation of Derek Jones who was the distribution director for TUI Travel.

Replacing Derek Jones will be Nick Longman who was previously responsible for integrating TUI businesses in the UK.  Longman will also be heading up the web section of TUI Travel to make sure that all routes used by the company to distribute its products work well together.

A statement released by TUI Travel notes that Longman will make sure that “business continues to capitalize and grow new routes to market such as the web, while maximizing revenue and sales through the more traditional ones such as high street and out of town retail shops.”

The managing director of TUI Travel, Dermot Blastland spoke about the changes: “When we merged last September the emphasis was on bringing the businesses together so that operationally we could work together as one team as quickly as possible.  I have been delighted at how much has been achieved by everyone working together to create TUI UK and Ireland.  More recently, I have been working with my team to review how we can now truly put the customer at the heart of our business and continue to build an even stronger organization, reflecting and anticipating the needs of both existing and new customers. I believe my new board is well positioned to do just that.”
