TUI Travel and Boeing Launch 787 GoldCare Service
Posted on: April 15th, 2010 by Andrew MayerOn Tuesday, American aircraft manufacturer Boeing said that they have chosen leisure travel company TUI Travel as the launch customer for GoldCare. This service is a multi-year lifecycle solution created by the manufacturer to provide material management, maintenance and engineering for their 787 Dreamliner fleet.
The contract for the services for a 12-year term, which starts on the delivery date of each plane. The agreement will include the 13 Dremaliners that TUI Travel has currently on order. The planes will be operated by Arkefly, Jetairfly, Tuifly Nordic and Thomson Airways.
Boeing explained that the contract is possible through their advanced e-enabling technologies. The travel operator will be provided with GoldCare Enterprise, which includes the full service portfolio of GoldCare. Plus, The support from GoldCare Enterprise will allow the airline group to focus on passengers while utilizing their airplane assets to the max.
Boeing continued that the GoldCare service will provide 24/7 operations center support. The manufacturer has a global team to deliver the service, which performs maintenance, engineering and material management services at predictable prices that are based on flight hours. The team will include Hamilton Sundstrand, Moog Inc., Rockwell Collins, Panasonic, Honeywell and GE Aviation – who will all support overhaul, repair and material needs for the systems they provide on the Dreamliner.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of fleet management for commercial aviation services Bob Avery says that TUI Travel is a strong partner for developing this program. They look forward to their continued partnership with the travel operator as their 787s enter service.
