Trial in hired car accident begins
Posted on: November 30th, 2007 by Jennifer JonesAccording to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a civil trial suit for wrongful death began in the St. Louis County Circuit Court this week. Rob Ramage, a former hockey player for the St. Louis Blues is being tried for the wrongful death of another ex-hockey player Keith Magnuson.
Magnuson’s family attorney, Dan Kotin, claims that Ramage was driving his rental car while drunk on the night of December 15th, 2003, when his car crossed the center line and collided head on with an oncoming car.
Magnuson, who used to play for the Blackhawks, was a passenger in the car when it crashed.
The defendant in this case is National Car Rental, who hired the car out to Ramage.
Last month, according to reports from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Ramage was found guilty of impaired driving resulting in a death and four other criminal charges. Magnuson’s immediate family in Toronto including his wife and two children, are seeking damages to the amount of seven figures.
