Travel industry sits up and pays attention to facebook

Facebook.com has become one of the leading social community websites on the net today. Millions of people from around the world now use the facebook platform to communicate with their friends and find new ones as well. What makes facebook different is the vast amount of third party software made available within the original template.
One of the most popular, with 2.6 million users is the ‘Where I’ve Been “ application. It now sits at number 22 on the list of the most popular supplementary applications available on the site, number 1 as far as travel related apps are concerned.
This application is a map that is inserted onto your profile page that informs anyone who cares to look of the places you’ve travelled to, lived in or care to go in the future.
TripAdvisor has collected stats on this, no doubt with the intention of seeing how it can turn the trend into a profit. One man who is already making a profit is creator Craig Ulliott, who must be sitting pretty now that the application is now available to users of the other foremost social networking site on the web, myspace.
