Travel Channel going full steam ahead
Posted on: September 25th, 2007 by Dave BessWith worldwide distribution increased by a staggering 96%, the Travel Channel International is definitely doing something right. The latest expansion for the company is to become an offical travel broadcast partner with World Travel Market.
World Travel Market chairman Fiona Jeffrey says, ”We have been working closely with Travel Channel International for the past five years and I am delighted that they are now an official Travel Broadcast Partner.
“Travel Channel International has seen remarkable growth and enjoys a hugely significant and influential audience with 85% of viewers regularly travelling overseas for business and pleasure.
“It offers another important mechanism for our exhibitors to communicate messages to an expanding global audience.
“Travel Channel will be reporting from World Travel Market on the decisions that affect consumers and their holidays, and finding out how the industry’s movers and shakers are responding to the challenge of greener travel.”
The Travel Channel now holds the distinction of being the largest total travel-based channel in Europe, with broadcasts going out to 116 countries and in 14 different languages.

I do not like Travel Channel’s broadcasts. They really lack quality and are way too commercial. There are many facts about countries, which aren’t even mentioned in their dull programs.

Most of their info on certain countries is way outdated, and they ought to increase their research budget and send staff out to these countries, not just ask a few jaded travellers who hardly ever stray off the beaten track.

^^When I was in Dubai last year they were shooting a special on the place, which by now must have already been shown. They were in town for at least a week and toured all the best attractions and explored the site where the QE II will be stationed.
But I think now that cruise ship will be stationed permanently at a different site nearby.
