It’s now common knowledge that the economies of India and China are growing at extraordinary rates, and that one country or the other could very well end up dictating what happens to the global market in the not so distant future. For us in the west, we sit back and glibly wonder which one will make it to the top first, whether it will be at the other’s expense, or if the two are so gung-ho that they may end up fighting each other and just letting the United States carry on.

What we perhaps don’t realize is that in those countries, other considerations are afoot, and the Indian Ambassador to China, Nirupama Rao says that what the near-future really holds, is the explosion of Sino-Indian tourism. The ambassador hopes that the New Year will be a ‘new chapter’ in the communication of the people of the two countries, and she said that since 2005, “India had conducted cooperation with many Chinese airline companies, which was conducive to the promotion of the two countries tourism interaction. Further connections are needed between cities of the two countries.”
