Top UK car hire website reports sales ahead of expectations
Posted on: June 1st, 2009 by Emily WelchLeading car hire comparison website, Carrentals.co.uk, has reported that its first quarter sales significantly exceeded targets despite difficult trading conditions in the travel sector.
According to the online firm, it finished the quarter 50 per cent ahead of budgeted revenue targets, and showed a 30 per cent rise in revenues year-on-year. For the year to January 2009 the company reported more than £16 million in car rental sales.
In 2003, the site was originally launched as an online car hire broker. In 2007, Carrentals.co.uk was re-launched as a car hire comparison website, and has since won awards that include the 2008 Travolution Best Car Hire Website and the 2008/09 Good Ski Guide Oscar for Best Ski Car Rental Website.
The company’s managing director, Gareth Robinson, said: “Demand for the first quarter has consistently been ahead of target. This success underlines the quality of the service we offer, with our CPA-based comparison model offering a fairer system to suppliers and wider choice and more competitive prices to customers.”
On the site, consumers can compare prices offered by 35 rental car providers serving over 9,000 destinations, which is more than any other comparison site offers. The company’s customer focus and value provided has led to 15 per cent repeat bookings.
