Top ten destinations as seen in films

It has been reported a few times in the last while how many holidaymakers chose their destinations based on locations they’ve seen in their favourite films. Now a top ten list has been compiled showcasing the hottest destinations to be contemplated as a travel destination after a night at the cinema.

Managing director of expedia.co.uk Caroline Cartellieri says, “Films have long inspired us to get out there and experience the world and it’s interesting to see which films, representing which destinations, people find the most enticing.”

The Top Ten destinations are as follows:

1. Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of The Ring, New Zealand
2. Pirates of the Caribbean – The Curse Of The Black Pearl, St Vincent and the Grenadines
3. The Beach, Thailand
4. Ocean’s Eleven, Las Vegas
5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, New York
6. The Sound of Music, Austria
7. Braveheart, Scotland
8. Out of Africa, Kenya
9. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, India
10. The Talented Mr. Ripley, Italy

    I would have thought some place in England would be on there. I was reading the other day about the millions of dollars people are making in the UK from Harry fans

    No surprise that Lord of the Rings is at the top of the list. Good to see the old classic Indianna Jones is still being watched and bringing people out of their homes, looking for adventure.
