The Hotel New Otani in Tokyo, Japan will be launching a four-month trial of a ‘travel information’ portal service. The service will be offered by interTouch and NTT Broadband Platform, Inc. and will provide free access to guests about travel information that was only available through paid-internet portals before.
interTouch chief executive officer Charles Reed explains: “interTouch and NTTBP are pleased to partner Hotel New Otani Tokyo to launch the trial of a dedicated portal site that provides hotel guests with access to a wide array of useful travel information, which in the past was only available via a paid Internet service.”
interTouch has been working with various hotels around the globe to provide reliable internet service, and began work with the luxurious Hotel New Otani in 2006.
Reed continued, “The ‘Travel Information’ Portal Service is an initiative that NTTBP and interTouch will look to provide for its hotel partners globally. As the technology needs of travellers become increasingly sophisticated, there is a rising challenge for the hospitality industry to provide guests with value-added services using cutting-edge technology.”
The online locations to be offered in the portals will pertain to flight schedules, weather reports, local guides and news.
