To Canada and beyond!
Posted on: May 10th, 2007 by Katy DaviesThe first passengers to check-in for Flyglobespan’s inaugural flights between John Lennon Airport in Liverpool and Toronto’s Hamilton Airport, were served with bottles of champagne. Later check-ins were treated to pecan pastries. Passengers were also treated to the sight of a Canadian Mountie and served maple syrup.
The flights operate once a week, leaving Liverpool every Monday for the Canadian destination. This allows passengers just over a week to discover the delights of Niagara Falls, downtown Toronto and the province of Ontario before catching their flight back the following Sunday evening.
The managing director for Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport, Neil Pakey said: “This flight marks the beginning of a new era for John Lennon Airport by being our first ever scheduled transatlantic service. As well as giving passengers in the North West the opportunity to fly to Canada at some great low fares, we hope that many Canadians will take the opportunity to visit Liverpool and Merseyside, particularly in the run up to 2008 and the City’s European Capital of Culture celebrations.”
Flyglobespan is planning to begin direct service between Liverpool and New York’s JFK airport on a daily basis later in May.
