The International Air Transport Association’s deadline for airlines to switch completely to paperless tickets for their passengers in only three weeks away, and according to a leading travel agency, some airlines are struggling to meet the cut-off. Flight Centre Limited said that 90 percent of its operations would not be affected by the more to one hundred percent e-ticketing, but there were still some areas of unresolved. Flight Centre reports that with some airlines lagging, some round-the-world fares would face confusion, as would fares involving more than one carrier if they were not in the same airline alliance.

Managing director of Flight Centre Limited Graham Turner said, “While we support the move to e-ticketing, it is clear that airlines in general are not ready to make the switch to a 100% paperless environment by June 1.” Even if some carriers are able to go paperless form their end, there are still airports in the developing world that require a paper ticket, such as in pats of Vietnam, India, South America and Africa.
