Members of the Qatar royal family found themselves in a strange land which didn’t heed their conservative customs last week, and as a result, were asked to leave the British Airways flight leaving from Milan and headed for London Heathrow that was scheduled to depart at 4 pm, Thursday.

A group of eight members of the Qatar royal family and their entourage boarded the business class section but problems arose when they realized that their assigned seating would mean that female members of the family would be placed next to men who were not of their immediate families.

The princesses had been on a shopping excursion in Milan and upon discovery that they would have to sit next to strange men, attempted to rearrange the cabin to suit their ultra-conservative principals. Passengers who were together refused to leave their assigned seats and this cause a delay of almost three hours. As the altercation progressed, passengers began whistling and hooting and the captain eventually asked the women to leave the plane.

It is not known how long it took them to get a flight where their customs could be observed and take them back to their Gulf Kingdom, headed by the emir of Qatar, Bader Bin Khalifa Al Thani.
