Posted on: October 21st, 2009 by Andrew MayerThomas Cook has announced a major push for the Olympic games to be held in London in 2012.
The British travel company will offer a number of short trips and holidays for visitors to enjoy London during the 2012 summer Olympics. A total of 250,000 packages are up on offer, with transport, hotels and even tickets to Olympic events all thrown into the mix.
The London Committee of the Olympic Games (LOGOC) has picked the travel agent as its main travel collaborator, and has said this would help ensure that as many enthusiasts can enjoy the Olympic events as possible.
Over a century ago, when the inaugural edition of the Olympics was held in Athens, Thomas Cook had facilitated the passage to the games for many British enthusiasts. More than a hundred years after the games in 1896, the British company says it is now honoured to offer visitors a chance to experience the games in its own base.
Thomas Cook’s Group Chief Executive Officer Manny Fontenla-Novoa has expressed great pride in the company’s participation as a leader in the world’s most prestigious sporting event, and has said its association with the London Olympics will go a long way in underscoring the company’s reputation as the most trustworthy travel brand around.
