The 12 Most Dangerous Destinations
Posted on: March 23rd, 2007 by Paul FenrichThe world, they say, is not actually getting more dangerous every day, we only think it is. Improved communications and increasing levels of globalization mean that we know more about what’s going on it the world, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that more bad things are going on. Necessarily.
Whether you believe this to be true or not, some parts of the world certainly have gotten more dangerous in the past few years, prompting Forbes to release their list of the twelve most dangerous places in the world. If you are planning an upcoming vacation, and were not already aware, you may want to avoid the following countries:
- Somalia
- Iraq
- Afghanistan
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- Cote d’Ivoire
- Pakistan
- Burundi
- Sri Lanka
- Haiti
- Chad
- Lebanon
- Liberia
If you are in the unfortunate position of travelling for business in one of these countries, make sure your travel insurance will cover you there and investigate taking special precautions. In Afghanistan, for example, its possible, and advisable, to rent an armoured car. It’s likely to impress all your hummer-loving friends back home, too. Provided, that is, that you make it back home in one piece.
