Thailand is a country not wont for tourist numbers, but always looking for more, more, more like everyone else, many Thai tourism operators are looking west to what they see as a largely untapped resource, the Indian travel market. Kuoni India pvt’s chief operating officer in charge of outbound travel Sunil Gupta says, “The purchasing power of Indian visitors is fairly high, but Thai operators are still less aware of this potential. India’s economy has experienced strong growth of 8-9 percent over past three years, and the growth is expected to stay strong at 8-9 percent this year.”

One change that will give confidence to Indians travelling abroad, is the rule change that will allow them to take the equivalent of USD$10,000 out of the country for vacation purposes.

Indian outbound tourism has been growing steadily over the past two years, with a 17 percent increase from 2006 to 07 and 16 percent from 2005 to 06.  The Thais are keen get their share of this new money flying out of the subcontinent.
