Come December 20, European carrier Swiss will be launching twice-weekly flights between Manchester airport and Geneva. The direct flights will operate on Saturdays and Sundays. Fares on this route will begin at £77, all taxes included, with additional perks like snow-sports equipment being carried on board for free.

An Avro RJ100 jet will be deployed on the new direct route, and the new link is scheduled to be operational until April 11, 2010.

Saturday flights will leave Geneva at 15:35 and arrive in Manchester at 16:40, starting December 26. The return flight will depart from Manchester airport at 17:15 and reach Geneva at 20:15. Sunday flights will commence on December 20, departing from Geneva at 08:15 and arriving at Manchester airport at 09:20. The return flight will take off from Manchester at 10:00 and touch down in Geneva at 13:00 hrs.

Besides providing direct connections to Geneva, the new route aims to offer UK tourists easy access to ski resorts in the vicinity of the Swiss city, including Les Gets, Megeve, Chamonix and others.

The new route will take the airline’s total count of weekly flights from Manchester airport up to 26.

Meanwhile, British Airways has announced an additional link from Heathrow airport. The UK airline will begin twice-daily, direct non-stop services to Las Vegas city from October 25. Round trip prices on this new direct route will begin at about £550, and will depend on the day of travel.

Virgin Atlantic already provides a daily direct London – Las Vegas link from Gatwick airport. Fares on the Virgin Atlantic link to Las Vegas begin at about around £510 for a round trip.
