SriLankan Airways on the up
Posted on: March 12th, 2008 by Dave BessSrilankan Airlines has had a very good year in 2007. The struggling airline that made some drastic internal adjustments must be elated to report that i2007 saw more passengers per year than any year since the airline was formed in 1979, and the 2007 stats, at 3.2 million passengers, is an increase of 100,000 passengers compared to 2006.
Head of worldwide passenger sales Manoj Gunawardena reported, “our worldwide team has achieved an excellent performance during the calendar year 2007. We remained strong in all regions, and our focus on the Indian market yielded excellent results. It was not an easy year since some tourists were deterred by strong travel advisories issued by key tourist generating countries. We also faced increased competition from other carriers in India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.”
Despite uncertainty in some areas, the airlines traditional markets held fast and were dependable all year. These routes included Dubai, Cochin, Kuwait, Kuala Lumpur, Trivandrum, Trichy and London.

This airline are indeed on the up, I used them in November to fly to Bangkok, Columbo, London and back to Columbo. Absolutely everything was excellent and I managed 8 hours sleep, waking for an excellent breakfast before we landed in London.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again, in fact I am looking at prices as I speak.

Why not focus on the Euro market for a change? I was sitting in front of two Indian tourists at the cinema last night and it didn’t make for a very fun night.
