Singapore Airlines just gave travellers another reason to fly with their airline. The all-Business Class Airbus A340-500 will now offer in-flight iPod and iPhone connections as a part of their premium entertainment package.

Passengers on Singapore Airlines all-business class flights between New York and Singapore and between Los Angeles and Singapore will enjoy 15.4 inch LCD screens instead of their smaller iPod screen. The personal in-flight entertainment system will have customized video and audio preferences and the whole Business Class has been reconfigured.

Yap Kim Wah, Senior Vice-President Product & Services, for Singapore Airlines, said: “Customers on our all-business class Airbus A340-500 flights now have an incredible way to enjoy their own iPod and iPhone music and video on the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system.

He continued: “This is yet another example of our philosophy of creating customer satisfaction by providing an enhanced sense of choice and control.”

The iPod connectivity will allow passengers to use the larger LCD screens for their iPod displays, take advantage of in-seat power supplies, enhance their audio output and still listen to in-flight announcements from the pilot and cabin-crew.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod & iPhone Product Marketing, said: “The iPod is the world’s most popular digital music player and iPhone is a revolutionary mobile device, and they have become essential for millions of travellers. Singapore Airlines’ customers can now enjoy their music, TV shows and movies on their iPod and iPhone through the in-flight entertainment system.”

Earlier this month, the iPod cable was offered on flights to Newark and it will be offered on flights to Los Angeles in August this year.
