Silverjet wins prestigious design award
Posted on: May 7th, 2007 by Neill ZerkThe winner of this year’s Conde Nast award for design is Silverjet. Silverjet operates all business-class flights between London Luton and New York
Newark Airport. It was the Silver Lounge at the airline’s private terminal, with its own security and with wireless internet access that particularly impressed the panel of expert judges. The actual aircraft design of the Boeing 767-200 used by Silverjet was also impressive. The airline was competing against the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, British Airways’ business class, known as Club World; and against the Boeing Dreamliner.
Earlier in the week, Silverjet received it’s second Boeing 767-200 aircraft and plans to increase service along the London to New York route to twice a day, starting on July 2nd.
Speaking about Silverjet’s win , Sarah Miller, Conde Nast Traveller editor said, “It’s not often a British airline launches, let alone to such great acclaim, and this award is thoroughly deserved.”
