Travelodge and its brainchild the Travelpod will make adjustments to its original design that has made available a portable hotel room that can be used for camping trips or taken to outdoor festivals.

The new version is 40% bigger than the original prototype and contains amenities such as air conditioning and heating, a flat screen TV with DVD player, bio-degradable toilet and lighting as well.

In keeping with the environmentally friendly concept, many of its materials are made from recyclable materials and it is lit with low wattage bulbs. Travelpods are carpeted, curtained and the bed sheets and blankets are provided as well.

The exact measurements are 6 metres by 2.4 metres by 2.6 metres and replicate the hotel rooms one would expect when visiting a regular Travelodge hotel. Travelodge’s Leigh McCarron explains, “The Travelpod is a ground breaker in outdoor accommodation. We ran some tests on the original Travelpod concept last year and those findings have been used to develop this second generation model for customer trials”.

If you’re lucky, you can register at www.travelodge.co.uk for a chance to participate in trials to really test it out.
