Scotland’s poster monster is back
Posted on: June 5th, 2007 by Neill ZerkOne of the most renowned legends in the world made an appearance over the weekend in the famous Loch Ness in Scotland.
Stories of the Loch Ness monster date back to the 16th century and have fascinated people all over the world, to the extent that an entire tourist industry has been based on this mythological creature; plush toys and all.
The advent of technological means to record the beast have led to fakers, forgers and even a few people permanently camped out on the banks of the loch waiting for the money shot.
Gordon Holmes found himself in a bit of luck when the 55-year-old lab technician captured a shape in the water this weekend.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this jet black thing, about 45 feet long, moving fairly fast in the water,” he said later.
The fact that this video is high quality and a far cry from the dubious grainy footage made famous in the ‘30s has prompted further research.
Since that original video there have been over 4000 sightings of what some claim is a sturgeon and some claim is a dinosaur. Whatever it is, its managed to peak the curiosity an imaginations of people the world over.
