Despite thousands of tourists and locals being evacuated in anticipation of Hurricane Dean, the category 5 storm left Mexico’s most popular tourists resorts relatively unscathed and unharmed.

Tourism officials were surely celebrating into the we hours that their season had been salvaged and now comes word that the Ritz-Carlton in Cancun is open for business as usual. Aside from the Mexican branch re-opening, the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall Jamaica also re-opened its doors despite having survived the harsher effects of Dean.

After being surveyed by recovery teams, all the hotels were deemed structurally sound, having sustained no serious damage. Fallen trees and debris were cleared from the properties, staff has returned, and guests can expect to receive all the same services they would before the storm.

Ezzat Couty is the senior vice president of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and had this to say: “While we are very pleased Hurricane Dean was not as destructive as predicted, we understand many of our guests’ plans have been temporarily disrupted, and we look forward to welcoming them back very soon. The hotels are completely prepared to offer our leisure and business customers the same exceptional experience they have come to expect from The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. I encourage everyone with plans to visit our luxury resorts to go ahead with their trips, as our ladies and gentlemen at each hotel are looking forward to welcoming them,”
