Retail Decisions (ReD), a UK-based company dealing with online payment processing and fraud prevention, will open a new regional office in India. Currently, the company has regional offices in Africa, Australia, Europe and North America.

ReD plans to boost business prospects from the South Asian market by closely working with travel and car rental companies, airlines, and hotels in India offering online payment options. Last year, the UK-based company had inked a partnership agreement with Bird Consult, a consultancy firm in India. According to Peter Baxendale, Head of Strategic Partnerships of ReD, travel is the most popular service advertised on the Internet.

India is experiencing a growing number of web-based transactions, with travel services as the most saleable online. However, ReD is also recording a rapid increase in fraudulent activities as travel companies and airlines are now transacting online. The country also has no countrywide credit card system or no efficient network delivery system to prevent online fraud transactions.

ReD is optimistic about opening a regional office in South Asia and sees a massive demand for its services in India, where online travel transactions will boast a share of over 40 per cent. Baxendale stated that if the local online travel demand rises, ReD might put up a regional office in India in the next years to come.

In addition, Baxendale assured online buyers, travel agencies, hotels and airlines from India of ReD’s safe and secured online system. Better security in web-based transactions will definitely increase online traffic due to enhanced consumer confidence.
