Refit in the works for travel.co.uk
Posted on: January 11th, 2008 by Dave BessThe travel comparison site for British travellers, travel.co.uk has proven to be very popular among would-be tourists looking to shop around for travel deals. The site has been successful enough to think about an upgrade, and now Comtec, a leading technology supplier for the leisure industry has accepted the job.
The ownership will still stay in the hands of travel.co.uk; but the software used to create and maintain the site will be supplied exclusively by Comtec. A beta version has been in operation to test drive the interface and gauge reactions from both customers and industry users.
With the trail over, Comtec CEO Simon Powell plans to press ahead, saying, “The URL is an asset that we have owned for over 10 years but which we’ve never exploited, until now. Feedback from the beta phase has been very positive with both tour operators and travel agencies keen to learn about our plans for the site and find out how they can utilise one of the most memorable website addresses in the industry as an additional channel to market.”
