Radar system malfunction at Dublin Airport
Posted on: July 11th, 2008 by Rosie Vaughan-JonesDue to the radar system malfunction at the Dublin Airport many flights are still facing delays today. Of the flights leaving the airport those headed toward UK destinations appear to be affected the most. Some flights to cities in Germany are also seeing delays of up to three hours.
Travelers dealing with the chaos created with the malfunction, Patrick Costello and Josephine Vaughan, said “Depending on how things go we could have the first two days of the holiday eaten up travelling, and we are spending just four days in Rome before moving on to Sorrento for a week. That’s the worst of it for us in that it is ruining one part of our trip. Part of the problem is that we had to try to get on to other scheduled flights many of which were full and they would not put on an extra flight.”
Also affected was Barry Goulding who was in Dublin for the day on business. Unfortunately he was unable to leave Dublin as scheduled the night before and is now waiting for a flight today. Goulding said “Things are calmer here now but there was pandemonium here last night and the staff just seemed to disappear leaving us to our own devices. I paid 280 pounds for a return trip in a so-called low fare airline and the least I would expect is to be told what is going on rather than having to work out for myself that flights are not happening.”
Delays were expected to improve during the course of the day.
