Queen band to rock Dublin
Posted on: November 20th, 2009 by Emily WelchThe famous musical based on the songs of Queen, one of the eighties biggest rock band, named WeWill Rock You, is scheduled to go live in Dublin.
We will rock you is a jukebox musical and is named after the iconic Queen song. Queen’s members Brian May and Roger Taylor along with English comedian Ben Elton, are behind the production and creation of this musical.
The central story describes a bleak and depressive future, where individuality is despised and uniqueness is looked down upon. A lone dreamer who is capable of fulfilling a prophesy and will eventually bring the return of rock and roll is pictured.
It will feature 26 of Queen’s greatest hits including Radio Gaga, I Want to Break Free, Somebody to Love and Bohemian Rhapsody. All these songs are performed by a cast including X factor finalist Brenda Edwards, singer Johnathan Wilkes and Coronation Street star, Kevin Kennedy.
The musical first opened in the West end at the Dominion Theatre on May 14,2002. It is widely known as being one of the audience’s favourite shows, and is one of the longest running musical at that venue.
The show is scheduled to play from the twentieth till the thirty-first of January. The musical will be held at the O2.
