Qatar’s Thailand flights paying off

Qatar Airways, an airline with one of the best reputations in the business reported yesterday that it’s routes between Doha and Bangkok are dong very well a year on from their launch. Qatar reports an 84 percent load factor with a slightly higher rate for the first two months of the year.

Qatar is not the only airline from the Middle East that wants to get stuck further into Thailand, with Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways both trying to wedge themselves into the busy flight schedules at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Capacity constraints are affecting Qatar as it is, with the airline struggling to implement a third daily flight to Bangkok, but Alan Chua, Qatar manager for Thailand and Cambodia hopes that the situation will change in about a year, as the airline acquires more jetliners like the Airbus A330-300.

Qatar Airways will also join the Airbus superjumbo A380 group when it takes delivery of its first double-decker jet in 2010.
