In a continuing saga, epic in length and as replete with boring repetition as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, its another slant on the bedlam that has ben created this summer over new passport requirements for US citizens travelling to other North American countries and the ineptitude and unprepared services to cope with such rash new measures.

What would one expect from the Bush administration, who in another obvious and deprecatory lack of tact let the majority of New Orleans’ citizens suffer unnecessarily for days.

As the passport drama continues, a statement from the State Department says that those in a rush and who pay the extra fees for the expedited service can be expected to wait even longer than two months; two months now being the average wait time for a passport to be processed regularly.

It has been said that it will take $1 billion to cope with the surge of applications created by the insistence of these new laws in a post 9/11 world where everyone is out to get uncle Sam. Funny how it’s Sammy’s citizens that seem to be suffering all the more for policies that don’t apply to the politicians that pass them.

State representative for Ohio Steven LaTourette says, “What color is the sky in their world? I can’t believe they’re proposing a rule where they want to charge you the same amount and in return you’re virtually guaranteed to get worse service.”
